The Board of Directors for Friends of the Caroline County Library approved the annual project funding list for FY2019 at our annual meeting on June 23, 2018. The total Friends funding for library projects in FY2019 will be $11,622. Please see the list below for a detailed breakdown of projects:
Adult Summer Reading Game - $600
Funds support bags and prizes to encourage and reward program participation.
Youth Summer Reading Supplies - $1,000
Funds the purchase of books to use as prizes for the program.
Youth Summer Reading Program Operations - $3,122
Funds cover the cost of all summer reading programs scheduled for July 2018 (seven total programs throughout the three library branches).
2018 One Maryland One Book Programs - $300
The 2018 book is Bloodsworth: The True Story of the First Death Row Inmate Exonerated by DNA by Tim Junkin. Both the author and subject of the book, Kirk Bloodsworth, are Eastern Shore natives. Funds will support local and regional programs associated with the book.
Young Adult Collection Development - $2,000
Funds will help add to the collection of young adult books throughout the County.
Award-Winning Youth Books - $600
Funds the purchase of books that have won the Youth Media Awards, which recognizes the finest youth literature published within the last year.
STEAM Programs (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Math) - $2,000
Funds a variety of programs for youth and families to help develop these critical skills.
Multi-Cultural Event - $1,000
Funds an annual event at the North County / Greensboro branch to celebrate and share knowledge of our community's diverse cultures.
Miscellaneous Programs and/or Materials - $1,000
Funds a variety of new programs that are in development, especially at the Greensboro and Federalsburg branches.
